	Comprehensive Approaches to Raising Educational Standards
	The goal of the CARES program is to improve the Early Care & Education System of El Dorado County through the professional development and education of early care and education providers. This program provided educational stipends to 82 El Dorado County early care and education providers during 2005-2006. This program also provides stipends to CARES Program Advisors that support program participants, advising them on course selections, providing moral support and helping with permit applications. CARES also has been successful at connecting participants to higher education resources and supports, and works with the local community college and state college systems to better articulate programs and degree pathways for CARES participants. This program continues to be very effective at helping program participants increase their knowledge of early care and education, and advance on the child development permit matrix.
