South Lake Tahoe Collaborative Services:
The Lake Tahoe Reading Council distributes books and community information to parents of newborn children at Barton Hospital in South Lake Tahoe. Parents of each newborn child born at Barton Hospital receive a bag containing materials that support parents in promoting growth & development of early reading and writing skills.
Each New Baby Book Bag contains:
- A “Read-To” children’s book, ages 0-3
- A pamphlet describing strategies on how to read to children
- A pamphlet on the importance of reading to children
- Age-appropriate ideas for developing writing readiness
- Baby t-shirt imprinted with “Born to Read” or “Nacido para Leer”
- Information regarding availability of First 5 New Parent Kits
