Prior to working for First 5 El Dorado, Rick was an analyst with Public Health and Children and Family Services in Shasta County. During his time in Shasta County, Rick gained a wealth of knowledge gathering valuable program and outcome data to use for program planning and evaluation. Rick has worked as a Spanish teacher in the San Juan Unified School District in Sacramento, and was employed with the California Department of Education’s Curriculum Frameworks and Instructional Resources Division, where he coordinated and reported on the adoption of instructional materials. Rick is fluent in Spanish, and while working towards his Bachelor’s Degree from C.S.U. Sacramento, spent a year studying in Granada, Spain.
On a personal note, Rick met and married his wife during his year in Spain and he, his wife, and their son have returned to the Sacramento area to be closer to family and friends and to make it easier for his wife to continue her studies at C.S.U. Sacramento. Rick is very excited to be a part of the team at First 5 El Dorado and is looking forward to working with the Children and Families Commission and the communities in our country to help families and young children access the resources they need to be healthy and happy. |
