The Commission indicators most important to a child’s readiness for kindergarten entry include:
● Regular preventive health and dental care
● Access to high quality child care and education
● Daily reading routines
● Parental understanding of child development
Nearly all (96%) of parents reported their child had a well child exam in the past 12 months, prior to kindergarten enrollment.
Last year, 50% of all participating licensed providers were Tier 3 or above on the quality rating matrix, indicating that quality is in place.
Over half of the families (65%) reported they or another family member read stories or looked at picture books with their child every day.
